This Weeks Author Spotlight

IS ON AUTHOR Deborah McCarragher

Author Deborah McCarragher had a desire to publish her first book, MISSION POSSIBLE – Spiritual Covering for years, but it literally “sat on a spiritual shelf” until God released her to have it printed in late 2007. It has since been revised and re-released in 2009.

The book addresses the struggles and difficulty of a marriage when one spouse finds the Lord first. Being unequally yoked after you are married presents a unique situation.
Deborah’s mission is to encourage women through scripture to believe in God’s Word to transform their husbands, and by challenging women to minister to their spouses in a way that glorifies God. The author’s candid approach makes this book an easy read, and compels the reader to join her in her quest to reach her husband for Christ.

Deborah is working on her latest book, Trees of the Bible – A Spiritual Journey, for release in late 2011.

Deborah is also the founder of Alabaster Box Publishing Co. Their motto is:
"Books to stir your mind & stretch your Soul!"

Cartomancy and Character

I’m not much of a believer in the occult, but I do love Tarot, not in any small part because the 78 cards in a Tarot deck can be so beautiful. There’s something undeniably fascinating in the symbols and images, and it’s easy to get caught up the magic.

My first reading was done by a real pro: author Nora Roberts. We were at the Washington Romance Writers’ annual retreat at the fabulous Hilltop House in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, and Nora was doing readings for her friends. I think she told m… Continue

Singing Humbly

I’ve reached the age where I know what I do well: I write well. I can structure the heck out of a novel. I can create characters who will make you weep. I’m a pretty good teacher. I enjoy public speaking.

Then there are other things that teach me humility.

Today, I sat in Starbucks running thr… Continue

Our Latest Book Video Trailer: Revelation Unplugged

Revelation Unplugged is a verse-by-verse analysis of The Book of Revelation. Within it, author Donnell Duncan carefully removes the veil, covering several mysterious Bible prophecies that are of vital importance to The Church; however, unlike any other, this book takes a very interesting twist: by highlighting the contrasting plights of The Churches of Philadelphia and Smyrna, Duncan clearly separates the faithful members of The Body of Christ into two groups. For the latter, victory will come t… Continue

Live Chat and Dead Darlings

This seems to be a slow weekend here on the Internet. I can never figure out where people disappear to or why. What could possibly be more fascinating than roaming cyberspace? :) I realize in some places the weather is too nice to stay inside, in other places it's too nasty to do anything online. Many writers are involved in National Novel Writing Month. Many others are busy procrastinating. And me . . . well, here I am, still virtually book touring.

Today's stops:

Review of The Constellation of Omens by David M. Rountree

Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tidal waves and tsunamis, more government intervention in our personal lives such as government controlled health care, seizing of business assets and controlling pay, one world religion and one world order. All signs of the approaching apocalypse. Many works have been written over the ages concerning the “End of Days” but none of them have approached the details and specifics of “The Constellation of Omens”. This tome is a terrifying yet compelling precognitive… Continue

The Force Behind the Book

Writers are also readers and have a great opportunity to study other authors, to figure out what it is about the book that drew them into the storyline. Figuring out the force behind the book that pulled you in will help define your own writing. Every book needs two things at least: memorable characters and a strong storyline.

Characters are the parts of the engine that move the storyline. When you create memorable and long lasting impressions of them into your readers then you’ve hooked them.… Continue
