- I'm a 23 year old young woman who is an author. I just self published my first book "Loyal To The Game". I'm from the streets of New York. I have an Associate degree in Business Magement. I'm working on my website and im also working on my second book. Im doing what I have to do to make it.

I ask for a meeting with the book buyer or manager, present them with a signed copy of my novel over coffee, and generally have a conversation where I attempt to gain their confidence. Including presenting them with book reviews by accredited reviewers and bestselling authors who have read the novels and provided me with positive blurbs for my books. Most bookstores like B&N and Borders, even Independents, try to accommodate local authors. So far I've been successful. Over the last eight years I've had a dozen signings/readings with B&N, Borders, and Independent stores locally and regionally.
