- I'm an ex-actor, fringe theatre director, and freelance writer living in rural Herefordshire. I'm married, with two grown-up (more or less) children, two dogs, two cats, and a couple of ferrets.
- My Published Books or Favorite Books
- My writing background has largely been one of non-fiction, work on the English countryside, and short stories. My first novel, The Cuckoos of Batch Magna, came out four years ago (it's a feelgood book, a sort of The Darling Buds of May on the river - most of my characters live on houseboats in a river valley on the Welsh borders - type work). A sequel, Sir Humphrey at Batch Magna, is due out early next year, and the third in the Batch Magna triogy, The Batch Magna Caper, will follow later that year or early (I'm still working on it).
I'm currently re-reading James Thurber, a shamefully neglected writer, and Simon Grey's The Smoking Diaries - his death sentence (terminal cancer) faced publicly with wit, style and a steady, uncompromising eye.

Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. I never knew I was a writer until the seeds of germination pushed their way into my soul and created a mission for me. I've come to see with clarity the homage to my father was but one purpose of the book. Even greater was the goal of reaching out to and drawing back those souls on the brink of desperation and showing them through my darkest days that there is always another solution, another answer, that there is help, love and light and that they are not alone. That the taking of one's life ends not only theirs but those of their family and friends as well who will wear the scar forever.
