Author and Book Event Center

Book Reviews, Book Trailers, Author Events, Live Forum and Chat

As I was joining Author and Book Event Center, I was thinking about my love of books. Since all of us are avid readers and some of us are authors, I'm sure you have your own stories about how you came to love the written word so much.

Well, the Holiday Season is upon us, and I'm reminded of my dear mother. Books! There were always books under the Christmas tree for my sisters and me. Reading was encouraged. Reading was made enjoyable. I not only read all of the Bobbsey Twin series, but I read every biography I could find in the school library about famous people. Black Beauty, Gulliver's Travels, Treasure Island, Bible Stories--the list is endless.

Writing was just the automatic progression for me. Heart of Stone is my first book, and centers around the Brandon Family in Riverbend, Texas. There are four siblings, and Stone Brandon starts the series of books about the loves and betrayals of the Brandons. Cady's Chance will be the 2nd book, about Stone's sister, Cady. I received a wonderful comment in a review of Heart of Stone. The reviewer stated that by the end of the book, she wanted to be adopted by the Brandon family. :-)

Thanks, and Merry Christmas!

My mom was a teacher and we always had books to read. My brother loves reading also but the reading bug never really hit my sister...lol. As a young child I fell in love with all of the Dr Seuss Books. As I got older I got in trouble because of books, go figure. DoubleDay Book Club you to always let you get 4-5 books for .99. Well as a child you dont read the fine print so I received my books and thought that was the end of that. The books kept on coming and my mom was livid because she did not know I had joined the book club. She had to pay for all the books I received. That was a lesson learned and I now read the fine print...lol

Wow! I love to read, but never tried to read them upside down. I'm going to try, though.

Books are vicarious living. My mother was a librarian so not only did we have books but we learned early to read them upside down and out loud. More about me at www.readhonenberger.com
