I would like to applaud people for their endeavors as authors because without people like them then there wouldn't be people like me. I say this because they are paving the way for the future in the publishing world. However, I do have to admit that the 500,000 numbers for e-book sales are a little troubling. I say this because I have actually taken the time out to actually look at the future of e-publishing. I don't believe that e-publishing will actually take off like people think that it will until we actually get a chance to expand the population of the human race to other planets. I say this because although more and more peoiple are actually getting online everyday, pratically 1,000's at a time each day, we are still far from reaching the goal of having an internet connection in every home worldwide. Even if we did then that still doesn't mean that people will actually purchase a book at all. They are too audio oriented and not willing to actually pick up a book and read like it was done in the past. Back then that was all that there was books. Then the radio came along and took over the spotlight. After that television came around and people stopped listening to their favorite radio show so that they could actually see a visualization of the show. Audio was then added and that really sealed the deal for television. Movie theaters popped up by the hundreds and then music came back again as people actually had to take less and less time reading and watching television. Music actually can be taken anywhere and that's basically where the idea of a kindle came about. It was a long shot but it worked enough for the manufacturers to actually benefit off of it and keep their shirts on their backs. If you notice that each individual section of the entertainment business has actually had it's time come and go. So basically what I'm trying to sday is that until we actually place whole populations on other planets where they actually start to miss home then that's when the internet and possibly even e-books, to me, will flourish. Especially since we are going to actually end up millions of miles away from here in many different solar systems. Then and only then will e-books take over as a very good place to acquire knowledge. Books as we know it is actually changing it's face and eventually everything will become computerized as more and more books are processed for reading material. It will save the environment much needed resources as we finally start to look at things in a different light. The natural resources will more than likely be used for what it was meant to be used for and that's the further advancement of the humnan race and not for monetary gain or greed or even materialistic value. It might actually take for the sun to get ready and go supernova before things start to dawn in our heads that we do need to look at our future with much more care than we have been doing so far. So please do keep up the good work authors because we need pioneers like you.
